- The Director: the period of study and preparation. The director's notebook. Rehearsal notes that work. Relationship to designers, technicians, playwrights and actors.
- The Stage: a study in stage picture, atmosphere, rhythm, tempos, shape, form, climax and space relationships to enhance dramatic action.
- The Actor: the discovery of character. How to help and encourage the actor to find the inner life of the role. How to guide an actor.
